LIGHT, a non profit organization, was founded by Mr. Jackson John, with a vision to uplift the oppressed and less privileged community through strategic development initiatives and thus uphold human dignity and social values. The organization was established in the year 2007 with operational areas at Thiruvallur and Chennai district of Tamilnadu. The core focuses are empowerment of children & women, eliminating child labour and child abuses, combat effectively the exploitation, illiteracy, ill health and other evils targeting them.

Objectives:

• To provide shelter, education, health and recreation for children in difficult circumstances to accomplish physical and intellectual development.
• To Promote education, health, sanitation and environmental hygiene to the under privileged sections of the society.
• To promote and support community education program on child rights, responsible parenting and child care& immunization
• To undertake awareness activities on prevention of HIV/ AIDS and inculcate the community responsibility amongst the people.
• To provide counseling and support avenues for youth and adolescents
• To provide health education and generate awareness on nutritional feeding, primary health care, family planning among the community
• To organize women for political, social and economic empowerment by imparting various trainings and economic development programs
